Winchester is a wild pinto stallion living in Sand Wash Basin in Northwest Colorado. He is shown here in defiant mode resisting the persistent challenge by a rival stallion for his precious mares. The donated piece is a signed 22x17 cotton rag print. Colorado-based conservation photographer, Scott Wilson has built a platform of PhotoAdvocacy to expand awareness of causes he believes in, including improved cancer screening and wild horse preservation. Scott is a contributor to We Animals Media, the world’s largest animal photojournalism agency, and a host of wild horse sanctuaries including Skydog in Oregon and Zuma’s in Littleton, Colorado. Last year he helped found an equine-assisted therapy program for cancer patients. Anger Management, Scott’s statement piece about the conservation challenges facing wild horses in the American West, earned Scott Photographer of the Year Award in the Sony World Photography Awards, raising awareness of wild horse issues in more than 140 countries.
